Phantogram, featuring Ernie Ball Music Man artist Josh Carter, recently visited the offices of The A.V. Club, where they recorded an outstanding cover of the song “Violet” by Hole. The performance kicks off the eighth season of The A.V. Club’s “A.V. Undercover” series, which features well known bands covering songs originally recorded by other well known bands.

Carter puts his custom Ernie Ball Music Man Cutlass guitar to work, creating a moody soundscape that works perfectly for the track. Watch the performance for yourself in the video below:

Josh and Sarah also stuck around for a short interview about why the picked this song to cover and what they’re currently working on, in addition to a guest appearance from Sarah’s dog Leroy:

Phantogram is currently on tour in North America. Get the tour details at the band’s website, and check out the band’s latest record Three in this Spotify playlist.
