Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel of Phantogram hit the outdoor stage at the Jimmy Kimmel Live show earlier this week to perform a trio of songs from their latest record, Three. As usual, the band sounds excellent, thanks in part to Josh’s pair of unique, custom Music Man Cutlass guitars. Additionally, their backup multi-instrumentalist can be seen at several points playing a Music Man James Valentine signature model as well.

Watch the performances of “You Don’t Get Me High Anymore,” “You’re Mine” and “Same Old Blues” below, and check out those Music Man guitars being put to good use:

Phantogram is currently on tour around the US, in addition to several dates in Australia. Get the tour details at the band’s website.

Guitars and Strings

Josh Carter plays two custom Ernie Ball Music Man Cutlass guitars, both strung with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky nickel-wound strings. Learn more about the Cutlass and find a dealer near you here.

The first Cutlass guitar features an alder body with a Trans Black finish and a tortoise shell pickguard. The maple neck is topped with a rosewood fretboard, which has a custom white “P” inlay at the first fret. The neck and middle pickups are hand-wound Music Man models, which are complemented by a Seymour Duncan Little ’59 humbucking single coil in the bridge.

Josh’s second Cutlass guitar features an ash body with a natural finish and a black pickguard. The maple neck on this guitar has a maple fretboard with a vintage tint, which has a custom black “P” inlay at the first fret. The neck and middle pickups are hand-wound Music Man models, which are complemented by a Seymour Duncan Little ’59 humbucking single coil in the bridge.
